When NuSmile sends us your child’s custom-made, natural-looking crown, Dr. Burkitt permanently attaches it to your child’s tooth during their second appointment.

Children's tooth extractions

Whether teeth have been broken due to an oral injury or have become infected due to decay, tooth extractions may be required to remove damaged primary (baby) teeth. The process of an extraction usually only takes about 5 minutes per tooth. The process involves numbing the area and possibly sedation if necessary for your child's comfort. The area surrounding your child’s tooth will be cleaned and disinfected, and then Dr. Burkitt will loosen the tooth in the socket. After the tooth is removed, the area is cleaned and sutured shut. A space maintainer may be recommended to keep your child’s mouth and jawbone healthy until their permanent tooth grows in.
